# Adding seats

A seat is a paid user licence on your Core plan. Admins can add seats themselves from Plan & Billing; reductions apply at renewal.

## Seats, members and buyers

- **Seats purchased** — what you're billed for (the *N of M used* bar on the plan card).
- **Members** — people with a Katalyz account in your workspace. Every member with an org role occupies a seat. Removing a member frees their seat for someone else; it doesn't lower the purchased count.
- **Buyers** — external people you share rooms with. Unlimited and free. See [Members vs. buyers](https://katalyz.crisp.help/en/article/members-vs-buyers-psh4kw/).

Core runs from **5** to **30** seats. Above 30, your account manager moves you to Enterprise.

## Adding seats yourself

1. Go to **Settings → Workspace → Plan & Billing**.
2. On the plan card, click **Add seats**.
3. Enter **Seats to add**. The dialog shows the per-seat price (*Seats are billed at €60 / user / month.*), the **prorated** amount for the months left in your term, the new seat count and the new annual total.
4. Confirm.

What happens next depends on your billing:

| Situation | Effect |
|---|---|
| **Subscription not active yet** | Seats fold into your pending order, no separate invoice. If you had already signed, you re-sign the updated order. |
| **Annual (prepaid) term** | An immediate prorated invoice for the remaining months; the new seats end with your current term. |
| **Monthly billing** | The seats are added to your next invoice. |
| **Order without a mid-term expansion clause** | The addition needs a signed **addendum**: review, **Review & sign addendum**, and the seats plus their invoice apply on signing. |

Every change is recorded in the **Seat history** log under the plan card — who added how many seats, when, and for how much.

## Reducing seats

Seats are committed for the term. To reduce them at renewal, tell your account manager before your **notice period** starts (shown on your contract). See [Cancelling your subscription](https://katalyz.crisp.help/en/article/cancelling-your-subscription-cxcc4z/).

## Free licences

Some licence types are granted on top of paid seats and never count toward them (for example admin-viewer licences agreed in your contract). They appear on your order; ask your account manager if you need more.

## Unlimited seats

Some contracts have **uncapped** seats: usage isn't limited, and the plan card reads *"N active · M billed (uncapped)"*. Billing stays based on the purchased seats.
