# CTA widget

The **CTA (Call-to-Action)** widget is a styled button that drives a specific buyer action — book a meeting, accept a proposal, start a trial, download a resource.

## How to add

1. On the **floating build bar** at the bottom of the editor, locate the widget — in the primary widgets row, or under the **⌄ All widgets** popover if it's not there.
2. Drag the **CTA** widget onto the target section.
3. Use the selection pill to open the **Edit CTA** popover and configure it (label, URL, colors, border, behavior).

Click the button to select it. Left to right:

1. **Edit resource** (sliders icon) — opens the **Edit CTA** popover (see below). This is where label, link, colors, border, and hover behavior live.
2. **Design** (paintbrush icon) — opens the contextual Design panel (Layout & corners / Spacing / Effects). Background and Border are skipped here — those are inside the Edit CTA popover, since the button's fill *is* the visual background.
3. **⋮ More** — Edit resource (same as the sliders icon) · **Duplicate** · **Delete**.

(No Size / Dark mode / Replace / Expand chips — a button has nothing to size, dark-mode, replace, or expand.)

Open via the sliders icon on the pill (or the same item in the ⋮ More menu):

- **Label** — the text shown on the button (e.g. "Book a 15-min intro")
- **Link URL** — where clicking goes (`https://…`)
- **Button color** — background fill (color picker / hex input)
- **Text color** — label color (color picker / hex input)
- **Border** — toggle on/off. When on, you can set:
  - **Border color**
  - **Width** (px)
- **Open in new tab** — toggle; when on, the destination opens in a new browser tab so the buyer keeps their place in the room
- **Hover effect** — one of: **Dim** · **Halo** · **Zoom** · **None**

## Button copy

Good CTA copy:
- **Starts with a verb** — "Book a demo", "Download the brief"
- **Is specific** — "Start your 14-day trial" beats "Get started"
- **Signals low friction** — "Book a 15-min intro" is less intimidating than "Schedule a meeting"

## Placement

- **End of a section** — after you've made the case, invite the action
- **After a pricing block** — pair with a "Talk to our team" CTA
- **Top of a critical section** — when the whole section is about taking action

## One primary CTA per section

Most rooms should have **one primary CTA per section** — the most important action. If you need multiple, make the primary visually stronger (bolder color, bigger button) and the others secondary (lighter color, thinner border, or a [Link widget](https://katalyz.crisp.help/en/article/link-widget-4toctz/) instead).

## When to pick a different widget

- **Booking a meeting** — the [Meeting widget](https://katalyz.crisp.help/en/article/meeting-widget-1dahrv9/) is usually a better fit (calendar integration, auto-fetch of recordings/transcripts)
- **Signing a document** — use the [Signature widget](→ 02-rooms/05-widgets-conversion-engagement/03-signature-widget) for e-sign flows
- **Neutral reference to an external resource** — use the [Link widget](https://katalyz.crisp.help/en/article/link-widget-4toctz/); it's for "here's a thing", not "do this thing"
