# Magic code verification — step by step

Some Katalyz rooms require you to verify your email before opening. It takes 30 seconds. Here's exactly how.

## When you'll see this

If the sender picked **Magic code verification** as the access setting (typically for sensitive content like pricing or contracts), you'll be asked to verify.

## Step 1 — Enter your email

The page asks for your email address. Enter the **exact address** the room was shared with (if you got the invitation at `jane@acme.com`, enter that, not a personal email).

Click **Send code**.

## Step 2 — Get the 6-digit code

Within a minute, you'll receive an email from **no-reply@katalyz.co** (or the sender's branded subdomain) with a 6-digit code.

The email subject will be something like *"Your Katalyz access code"*.

If the email doesn't arrive, see [I didn't receive the email](https://katalyz.crisp.help/en/article/i-didnt-receive-the-email-pw1jv5/).

## Step 3 — Enter the code

Back on the verification page, type the 6-digit code.

Click **Verify**.

## Step 4 — You're in

You now have access to the room. You won't need to re-verify on this device/browser unless you clear cookies or switch devices.

## Codes expire quickly

For security, codes are valid for **a few minutes**. If you wait too long and get an error, just request a new code.

## Why this extra step?

This extra step is only for sensitive rooms. It:
- Confirms the sender really intended the room for **you**
- Prevents unauthorized access if a link is forwarded by mistake
- Gives both sides confidence for pricing, contract, or signature work

## I don't have access to the email the room was sent to

If the room was shared with a work email you no longer have access to, or shared with a colleague who's out of office:
- **Ask the sender to re-share** with an address you do have access to
- Katalyz cannot bypass verification on your behalf — that would defeat the purpose
