# Quick start — send your first room in 5 minutes

Welcome aboard. This guide walks you through sending your first room in about **5 minutes**.

### Before you start

You should have received a welcome email from Katalyz with a magic link. **Katalyz doesn't use passwords** — clicking the link logs you in. If you didn't get one, ask your workspace admin to invite you. See [Logging in with a magic link](https://katalyz.crisp.help/en/article/logging-in-with-a-magic-link-t42xpj/).

---

## Step 1 — Log in

Open your welcome email and click **"Join [your workspace] on Katalyz"**. You'll land on your dashboard, which lists every room you have access to.

---

## Step 2 — Create your first room

Click **+ New room** in the top right of the dashboard.

You can start:
- **From scratch** — a blank room with your workspace branding
- **From a template** — if your admin has set up templates for common use cases (proposal, onboarding plan, renewal)
- **By duplicating** an existing room

Give the room a title (your buyer will see this — "Acme × [Your Company]" works well) and click **Create**.

💡 **Tip** — Name your rooms after the account, not the internal opportunity. "Acme Corp" reads better to your buyer than "Q2-ENT-0847-Acme".

---

## Step 3 — Add content

A room is made of **pages**, **sections**, and **widgets**.

- **Pages** are top-level containers in the left sidebar (e.g. *Overview*, *Pricing*, *Next steps*).
- **Sections** are visual groupings inside a page — use them to organize related widgets.
- **Widgets** are the pieces of content inside a section — text, images, videos, CTAs, signatures, meetings, and more. We call these **widgets**.

To add content, open a page and **drag a widget from the floating build bar at the bottom of the editor** onto the section where you want it. Drag widgets to reorder them.

💡 **Tip** — If you're not sure what to include, start simple: a welcome video, a pricing widget, and a signature widget. You can always add more later.

---

## Step 4 — Invite a teammate (optional)

If you'd like a colleague to collaborate on this room, click **Share** and type their email in the invite field. People from your workspace are **listed and suggested** automatically — pick from the dropdown or just start typing.

For each invitee, pick a role:

- **Editor** — can edit content and manage participants
- **Viewer** — can read and **comment**, but not edit

(The room's single **Owner** is set at creation and isn't available as an invite role — see [Room roles: Owner, Editor, Viewer](https://katalyz.crisp.help/en/article/room-roles-owner-editor-viewer-1n8iz04/).)

---

## Step 5 — Share with your buyer

When the room is ready, click **Share** in the top right.

Choose how your buyer accesses the room:

- **Anyone with the link** — low friction; buyers enter their email once on arrival so activity can be attributed.
- **Authorized emails only** — only addresses you specify can open it.
- **Magic code verification** — visitors enter their email and receive a 6-digit code. Most secure; recommended for pricing, contracts, and signatures.

### How to actually invite your buyer

Type your buyer's name and email in the invite field and click **Send**. Katalyz sends them a **personalized magic-link email** that drops them directly into the room — one tap, no signup.

⚠️ **Don't copy and paste the room URL into your own email.** Using the in-app invite is better because:
- The buyer gets a personal magic link — their activity is attributed correctly from the start
- They don't have to re-enter their email on arrival
- You get a "buyer opened invitation email" activity event (your earliest engagement signal)

If you absolutely need to share the URL by another channel (e.g. Slack), be aware your buyer will be asked for their email on arrival. ✨

---

## Step 6 — What happens next

Once your buyer opens the room, head to the **Activity** tab inside the room to see:

- Who visited and when
- Which **pages** they spent time on (time-tracking is per-page, not per-section)
- What they downloaded, signed, or clicked

You'll also get notifications in-app and by email — customize these in **Settings → Notifications**.
