# Quieting Slack alerts

Katalyz can notify you about a lot. If Slack is getting too noisy, here's how to turn down the volume.

## Turn off specific notification types

Go to **Settings → Notifications**.

For each event category, uncheck the **Slack** column for notifications you don't need in Slack. Keep them on for Katalyz in-app or email if you still want to know.

High-signal / keep on:
- You were mentioned
- A task is late
- A buyer opened an invitation
- Step / task completed on a room you own

Low-signal / consider turning off:
- User logged into a room
- Comment on a room you own (mention-only is usually enough)
- Someone viewed a step's details

## Use digest mode

Switch Slack frequency from **Instantly** to **Daily** — you'll get one grouped message at the end of the day instead of a continuous stream. To turn it off entirely, pick **Never**.

> On the Slack side, the only frequencies available are **Instantly**, **Daily**, and **Never** — there's no hourly digest.

**Settings → Notifications → Slack frequency**.

## Mute the Katalyz channel in Slack

If notifications go to a shared channel, you can mute the channel from Slack:
- Right-click the channel → **Mute channel**
- Or set channel preferences to "Mentions only"

This hides the channel from your sidebar unless you're mentioned — you still have access when you want to check.

## Tune which events trigger a notification

Katalyz Slack notifications are delivered as direct messages from the **Katalyz bot** — there's no team-channel routing. Quieting happens **per user**, in the **Notifications panel** of your profile. Each event type has its own toggle, so you can keep the signal you care about and silence the rest.

## Disconnect Slack entirely

If Slack notifications aren't worth the noise for you, the cleanest move is to rely on Katalyz in-app + email instead:

- **Settings → Notifications** → turn off the global **Slack** toggle

You keep the Slack integration connected (for future use) but suppress all Slack notifications.
