# Reading activity to drive your next move

The Activity tab is full of signals. This article is the **playbook** — how to interpret what you see, when each signal matters, and what action to take. For a feature-by-feature tour of the page, see [Opening the Activity tab](https://katalyz.crisp.help/en/article/opening-the-activity-tab-aamu65/).

## What the activity feed records

The feed captures everything that happens in the room. Roughly grouped:

- **Access** — logins / opens, page views, time spent
- **Resource interactions** — document previews, downloads, video plays, link clicks
- **Comments & mentions** — new comments, replies, @-mentions, attached emails
- **Action plan** — tasks/steps created, edited, completed, due dates set or changed, descriptions added
- **Signatures** — envelopes sent, opened, signed, declined, cancelled
- **Meetings** — meeting widgets attached, recordings/summaries fetched
- **Participants** — invitations sent, joins, role changes, removals

What it **doesn't** record:
- What buyers do **outside** Katalyz (their internal emails, calls, Slack)
- Drafts they typed but didn't send
- Browser tabs other than the Katalyz room

## Signals: read in patterns, not single events

A single event tells you little. The patterns are where the deal lives.

### Strong positive signals (deal is progressing)

**Time and depth**
- 10+ minutes total time spent across visits
- Multiple stakeholders open the room (decision-making breadth)
- Return visits within a week

**High-intent actions**
- Pricing page revisited multiple times — they're running numbers
- Contract / MSA / T&Cs downloaded — procurement / legal review underway
- Demo recording watched to completion
- Tasks completed on the buyer's side — they're owning the deal
- New comments and replies — real dialogue
- Signature envelope viewed (even if not yet signed) — they're considering

**Network expansion**
- Champion invites colleagues — internal support is widening

### Cautionary signals (deal is slowing or stalling)

**Engagement dropping**
- First visit but no return after a week
- Opened the room, scrolled past Pricing
- Multiple stakeholders never opened — champion isn't circulating

**Friction indicators**
- Envelope viewed but not signed for several days
- Task assigned to them sitting open with no edits
- Comments left without resolution or follow-up

**Attention has moved on**
- No activity for 2+ weeks
- Your last nudge got no response

## What to do with the signals

### On strong signals
- **Maintain momentum** — don't disappear, but don't over-communicate either
- **Remove blockers proactively** — *"I noticed you downloaded the MSA — want me to loop Legal in directly?"*
- **Confirm timing** to close, ideally tied to a calendar event

### On cautionary signals
- **Open a direct conversation** — call, don't email
- **Ask your champion**: *"What's standing in the way?"*
- **Reshape the deal** if needed — different pricing tier, smaller pilot, phased rollout

## Quantify engagement at a glance

If you have **Katalyz Intelligence** activated for the workspace, the **Health score** at the top of the Activity tab does this for you — a 0–100 gauge updated nightly. See [Katalyz Intelligence](→ 07-plans-billing/03-add-on-modules/03-katalyz-intelligence) and the [Activity tab article](https://katalyz.crisp.help/en/article/opening-the-activity-tab-aamu65/) for details.

Without Intelligence, rough rules of thumb:
- **Healthy** — 2+ visits, 10+ minutes total, multiple sections viewed, multiple stakeholders involved
- **Concerning** — 1 visit only, under 2 minutes, single stakeholder
- **Dead** — no activity for 3+ weeks after initial share

## Tracking & buyers

When an authorized email opens the room, Katalyz attributes their activity to that identity. On rooms set to **Anyone with the link**, visits from a forwarded URL get attributed to whatever email the visitor types in (string match — see [Choosing the right access setting](https://katalyz.crisp.help/en/article/choosing-the-right-access-setting-6jc04c/)).
