# Recording widget

The **Recording** widget embeds a **meeting recording** in the room. It's a simple video — playback only. **No transcript, no AI summary, no speaker labels** — just the recorded video itself.

## What it does

The Recording widget pulls a recording from your **notetaker** — either the **native Katalyz notetaker** or an **external one** connected to your workspace (Modjo, Gong, Claap, etc.) — and embeds the video for in-room playback. That's it.

## How to add

1. On the **floating build bar** at the bottom of the editor, locate the widget — in the primary widgets row, or under the **⌄ All widgets** popover if it's not there.
2. Drag the **Recording** widget onto the target section.
3. Pick the recording from the list — recordings from your connected notetakers (Katalyz, Modjo, Gong, Claap, etc.) are all available in the same picker.

## The selection pill — Recording controls

Click the recording to select it. The pill mirrors the [Image widget pill](→ 02-rooms/03-widgets-content-storytelling/03-image-widget#the-selection-pill-image-controls), left to right:

1. **Size** — dropdown with **Small / Medium / Large**.
2. **🌙 Dark mode (captions)** — flips the caption block to dark.
3. **Edit resource** (sliders icon) — opens the edit popup for the recording's title, captions, and the **Replace recording** action.
4. **🔄 Replace recording** (refresh icon) — shortcut to swap the recording while preserving caption content and design.
5. **Design** (paintbrush icon) — opens the contextual Design panel.
6. **Expand on click** (diagonal arrows icon) — toggle. When on, clicking the recording opens the fullscreen viewer.
7. **⋮ More** — Edit resource (same as the sliders icon) · **Duplicate** · **Delete**.

## What buyers see

A standard video player — play, pause, scrub, fullscreen. No tabs, no transcript pane, no summary.

## When to use

- **Demo handoff** — sales records the demo with their notetaker (native or external); drop the video in the customer's room so a buyer who missed it can rewatch.
- **Reference conversation** — embed a key call so both sides share the same context, without needing a separate dashboard.
- **Quick visual proof** — show a recording without the overhead of transcript / AI summary.

- **The video is hosted elsewhere** (YouTube, Loom, Vimeo, an upload) → use the [Video widget](https://katalyz.crisp.help/en/article/video-widget-415ise/).

## Privacy
