# Sharing your first room

Your room is built. Time to get it in front of your buyer. This article walks through the basics; deeper details live in [Sharing & access](https://katalyz.crisp.help/en/article/choosing-the-right-access-setting-6jc04c/).

## Open the Share modal

From inside the room, click **Share** in the top right.

You'll see two things to configure:
1. **How the room is accessed** (access setting)
2. **Who is invited** by name

## Pick an access setting

Katalyz offers three levels of access control. Pick the one that fits the sensitivity of the content:

| Mode | What it does | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| **Anyone with the link** | Anyone with the URL can open it — no verification. | Public-facing content, generic demos |
| **Authorized emails only** | You list who's allowed. Their email has to match. | Most sales conversations |
| **Magic code verification** | Buyer enters their email, gets a 6-digit code, then types it in. | Pricing, contracts, signatures |

## Invite people by email (recommended)

In the **Invite people** panel, type each person's email and pick a role:

- **Viewer** — can read and comment. Default for buyer contacts.
- **Editor** — can edit content and manage participants. For internal teammates.

You cannot invite someone as **Owner** — a room has exactly one Owner (the person who created it, or someone an admin reassigned). To transfer ownership, change the existing Owner's role first.

Click **Send invites**. They'll each get a personal magic link.

💡 **Tip** — Activity is always tracked per person. Even with **Anyone with the link**, buyers are asked to enter their email the first time they arrive, so their activity and comments can be attributed. That means you'll always know if it was the champion or the CFO who spent 3 minutes on the pricing section. Inviting by email upfront saves your buyer from that prompt (less friction), at the small cost of typing their email address into the invite panel — but the tracking itself happens either way.

## Or copy and paste the link

If you just want to drop the link into an email you're already writing, click **Copy link** and paste it wherever.

⚠️ If you picked **Authorized emails only** or **Magic code verification**, the link alone isn't enough — recipients still need to be on the allow-list or verify their email.

## Preview before you send

Before sharing, click **[Present]** to see the room as a buyer. Hidden pages and sections stay hidden. This catches mistakes before they hit your buyer's inbox.

⚠️ Presentation mode shows what the buyer sees, with one exception — some actions have **per-person views** (e.g. signature envelopes, personalized tasks) that render differently for each specific buyer. Presentation mode shows the generic version.

## What happens next

The first activity you'll see is **the invitee opening the invitation email**. That's your earliest signal the message landed — useful because the gap between email-opened and room-opened tells you how much the subject line did its job.

After that, every subsequent interaction shows up in:
- The **Activity** tab inside that room
- Your dashboard's activity feed
- Your notifications (in-app, email, and Slack — depending on your preferences)

Typical early-event sequence:
1. Invitation email **delivered**
2. Invitation email **opened** (your first activity ping)
3. Buyer **clicks the link** → room opens
4. Buyer **views pages** (you see which ones and for how long)
5. Buyer **acts** (downloads, comments, books, signs)
