# Ticker widget

The **Ticker** widget is a horizontal strip of images. It can hold any kind of image, but it's **primarily designed for logos** — classic social proof use cases like "trusted by", customer roster, or partner reel.

## How to add

1. On the **floating build bar** at the bottom of the editor, locate the widget — in the primary widgets row, or under the **⌄ All widgets** popover if it's not there.
2. Drag the **Ticker** widget onto the target section.
3. Use the selection pill to open the **Edit ticker** popup and configure title, items, animation, display type, color.

## The selection pill — Ticker controls

Click the ticker to select it. Left to right:

1. **Edit resource** (sliders icon) — opens the **Edit ticker** popup (see below). This is where most ticker configuration happens.
2. **Design** (paintbrush icon) — opens the contextual Design panel (Layout & corners / Spacing / Background / Border / Effects).
3. **⋮ More** — Edit resource (same as the sliders icon) · **Duplicate** · **Delete**.

(No Size / Dark mode / Replace / Expand — none apply to a ticker.)

## Edit ticker — the configuration popup

The **Edit ticker** popup (sliders icon on the pill) is where everything is managed:

- **Title** — optional headline shown above the ticker (e.g. *"Trusted by 50+ companies"*). Leave empty for a title-less ticker.
- **Animation speed** — how fast the strip scrolls: **Slow / Medium / Fast / Custom**.
- **Image size** — segmented control: **50×50 / 80×80 / 120×120 / Custom** (pixel dimensions of each ticker item).
- **Font sizes** — two pixel inputs:
  - **Block title** — the size of the optional headline shown above the strip.
  - **Name** — the size of each item's name label (used in display modes that show names).
- **Spacing** — pixel gap between adjacent ticker items.
- **Display type** — what each item shows:
  - **Images only** — just the image (the default for logos)
  - Other modes may show the item's **name** alongside the image
- **Color** — color treatment applied uniformly to all items (helpful for visual consistency across mixed logo styles):
  - **Natural** — leave each logo's original colors
  - **Grayscale** — desaturate everything
  - **White** / **Dark** — tint to a single shade
- **Elements** — the ordered list of images shown in the strip. Add, reorder, or remove them.

## Adding items — four sources

Click **+ Add item** in the popup. A modal opens with **four tabs**, each a different way to bring an item in:

### 1. New resource
Upload or link a new image.
- **Drop a file** or **Browse a file** from your computer
- **Enter the URL** of an externally hosted image
- **Name** — the label stored with the item (used in "with name" display modes)
- **Options** (expandable) — additional per-item settings

### 2. From this room
Pull an image that's already used somewhere else in the current room — handy for reusing logos that appear on page covers, contact cards, etc.

### 3. From the library
Pick an image from the workspace's **Content library** (shared across all rooms). See [Adding assets to the library](https://katalyz.crisp.help/en/article/adding-assets-to-the-library-16i8fyp/).

### 4. Search brand — the Brandfetch integration ⭐
Type a **company name** in the search box and Katalyz queries **Brandfetch** for its official logo. Pick the result and the logo is added to the ticker automatically — no manual upload needed.

This is the fastest way to build a "trusted by" reel: type the customer's name, pick the logo, move on. No hunting brand portals, no asking marketing for the kit, no dealing with transparent-background variants.

> **Tip:** Brandfetch covers a huge catalogue of public and B2B companies. If a company isn't found, fall back to **New resource** and upload manually from their brand guidelines page.

## Best practices

- **6–10 items** is the sweet spot — fewer feels thin, more overwhelms
- **Use Grayscale** when brands clash visually; use **Natural** when each brand's color is intentional
- **Well-known brands first** — readers scan left to right before the animation starts
- **Keep images consistent in aspect ratio** — wildly different sizes create a jagged strip
