# What is a room?

A **room** is the centerpiece of Katalyz. It's a branded, web-based space you create for one specific deal, customer, or project — and share with your buyer via a single link. A room can hold one or multiple **pages**, each with its own sections and widgets.

## What a room replaces

Before Katalyz, a typical deal involves:
- A PDF proposal by email
- A pricing deck as a separate attachment
- A Loom video pasted into a follow-up message
- A contract in DocuSign
- Meeting notes scattered in the CRM
- Relevant case studies buried in the sales rep's inbox

Your buyer has to stitch all of this together — and they usually don't. The proposal gets forgotten, the contract gets lost, and the deal stalls.

**A Katalyz room consolidates all of this into a single branded space**, organized into pages the way you want the buyer to experience it.

## What's inside a room

Every room has:

- One or more **pages** — top-level containers listed in the left sidebar
- **Sections** — visual groupings inside each page
- **Widgets** (widgets) inside each section
- **Participants** — people with access
- **Access settings** — how visitors verify themselves
- An **activity feed** — every visit and interaction logged

And optionally — depending on what you build into it — **tasks**, a **signature envelope**, embedded **meetings**, custom **branding**, and more.

## What a room does for you

- **Consolidates** everything your buyer needs in one place
- **Tracks** who opens what, when, and for how long
- **Personalizes** at scale with variables and branding
- **Collaborates** — comments, mentions, tasks, in-room messaging
- **Converts** — embedded CTAs, meeting bookings, legally binding signatures

## What a room doesn't do

- It doesn't replace your CRM — it syncs with it (HubSpot, Salesforce)
- It doesn't host gigabytes of files — it references them

Katalyz **does** send emails on behalf of the room — in-app messages trigger emails to recipients, activity events trigger notifications, and signature requests go out by email. But composing and sending generic prospecting emails isn't what Katalyz is for.

## Who owns a room

Every room has exactly one **Owner** — the person who created it, or someone an admin reassigned — plus any number of **Editors** and **Viewers**. Ownership is unique (not a role you invite people into); transfer it by changing roles.
