Salesforce — syncing rooms with opportunities, accounts and contacts

Once Salesforce is connected, a Katalyz room can be linked to an opportunity, an account, or a contact in Salesforce — syncing fields, activity, and the linked record automatically.


Linking a room to a Salesforce object


A room can be tied to:


  • an Opportunity — the most common case for an active deal
  • an Account — useful for multi-year or account-level rooms that span beyond a single opportunity
  • a Contact — for rooms centered on a single person (referral, customer success, partnership)


Two paths to make the link:


  • Salesforce-initiated — when a room is created from inside Salesforce (via the Katalyz Dealrooms List component added to an object's page), it's automatically associated with the originating object (opportunity, account, or contact).
  • Katalyz-initiated — when a room is created from inside Katalyz, you link it manually to the right opportunity, account, or contact from the room's settings.


A single room can be linked to multiple Salesforce objects (e.g. an opportunity and its parent account) when it makes sense for your workflow.


What syncs


Fields

Katalyz properties mapped to Salesforce fields stay in sync. Field mapping uses the same UI as HubSpot field mapping ("Synced fields"). The one difference: there's no "Import from CRM" action on the Salesforce side. See CRM field mapping & sync for the workflow — it all applies here.


Activity (Katalyz → Salesforce)

Selected Katalyz events post into Salesforce as Salesforce notes and, optionally, as Chatter posts when Chatter is enabled on the linked opportunity, account, or contact. The Salesforce activity list is slightly different from HubSpot's — 14 events covering comments, resources, room access, tasks, steps and due dates (no signature events, no comment/resource/task deletion events today).

Tasks

Katalyz tasks ↔ Salesforce tasks sync is not available today. Tasks live in Katalyz only.


Objects supported


Today the integration supports linking a room to:


  • Opportunities
  • Accounts
  • Contacts


(Other Salesforce objects — Leads, Cases, custom — aren't supported in the current scope.)


Sync timing


Sync is real-time in both directions. At first connection, Katalyz runs an initial back-sync — for any field with conflicting values, the CRM value takes priority.
