Connecting Gong

Gong is an enterprise conversation intelligence platform. Connecting Gong lets you surface Gong-recorded calls inside Katalyz rooms.

⚠️ Requires org role Admin. Requires an active Gong account (typically Enterprise tier).

Connection procedure

The connection happens in three steps: grab the API key in Gong, paste it into Katalyz, then set up an automation rule in Gong so it fires a webhook to Katalyz on every new call.

1. Get the API key in Gong

In Gong, open API Keys → Create an API Key and click Get API Key. Note down:

  • Access Key
  • Access Key Secret
  • Base URL for API calls (e.g. https://eu-2046.api.gong.io)

2. Paste the credentials into Katalyz

In Katalyz, go to Settings → IntegrationsGongConnect. In the Connect Gong popup, fill in:

  • API Key — the Access Key value from Gong
  • Access Key Secret — the Access Key Secret value from Gong
  • Webhook JWT Secret — leave empty for now; you'll fill it in after step 3
  • API Base URL — the Gong Base URL (e.g. https://eu-2046.api.gong.io)
  • Webhook URL — Katalyz generates this URL automatically (e.g. https://api.katalyz.co/gong/webhook/). Copy it — you'll need it in the next step.

3. Create the automation rule in Gong (webhook)

So Gong notifies Katalyz on every new call, create an automation rule:

  1. In Gong, open Edit rule (create a new rule).
  2. Trigger: choose New call.
  3. If a call meets the following criteria: leave All calls.
  4. Action: choose Fire webhook.
  5. URL: paste the Webhook URL you copied from Katalyz at step 2.
  6. Authentication method: select Signed JWT header.
  7. Click Show public key — Gong displays a public key. Copy it and paste it into the Webhook JWT Secret field on the Katalyz side (the step 2 popup), then click Connect Gong to finish.
  8. Name the rule (e.g. "Katalyz integration") and enable it.

4. User-level connection — Google or Microsoft

The Gong integration works alongside the calendar integration. For each user to retrieve their own Gong calls in Katalyz, they need to have connected their calendar account:

  • Each user opens their profile and clicks Sign in with Google or Sign in with Microsoft, depending on which provider an admin enabled at the workspace level.
  • Without this user-level connection, that user's Gong calls won't surface in Katalyz, even if the org-level Gong integration is healthy.

What happens once connected

Once the Gong rule is live and the user is signed in to their calendar, Katalyz receives each new call in real time and can surface them in the Recording widget picker.

What syncs from Gong

What Katalyz pulls in are the call briefs produced in Gong (Gong's term for summaries) — not the raw video recording or the full transcript. Those briefs can have been generated automatically by Gong or written manually by the user inside Gong; both surface the same way in Katalyz, as soon as they exist on the Gong side.

For how a brief is displayed in a room, see Embedding recordings from Gong/Modjo/Claap.

Embedding a Gong call in a room

Use the Recording widget and select Gong as the source. Pick a specific call from your Gong library.
