Inviting buyers
Buyers are external visitors — people at your prospect's or customer's company. Here's how to invite them.
Invite a buyer
- Open the room.
- Click Share (top bar).
- Type their email in Search for users, add email(s) or domain name(s).
- Pick a room role — typically Viewer, sometimes Editor.
- On the New invitation step, review the pre-filled message — "I invite you to join our space {room}, where you will find all the relevant info and the next steps of our discussion. See you there!" — edit it if you like, keep Notify people checked and send.
The buyer gets a magic-link email. No account creation needed. No password.

What the buyer experiences
- From the invitation email — one click and they're in the room.
- From a forwarded or pasted URL — they land on the room's login page ("Join the conversation."), enter their Work email and click Continue. For rooms set to Access code verification they also type the 6-digit code from their inbox. Name and role are not asked; a minute later an optional Mind introducing yourself? card lets them add a first name, last name and job title.
See How magic links work.
Room role for buyers
- Viewer (default) — can read and comment. Can complete tasks and update task assignees. Cannot edit content.
- Editor — can edit content too. Rare, but useful for collaborative rooms (e.g. a mutual action plan that both sides actively shape).
Buyers cannot be Owner. The Owner role is reserved for someone in your workspace. The Owner can only be transferred to another member of your organization.
Buyers don't have accounts
Unlike teammates, buyers:
- Don't create a Katalyz account
- Don't see a dashboard
- Only ever see the specific room you invited them to
- Don't count against your seat quota
See Members vs. buyers.
Who to invite
Obvious invitees:
- Your primary champion
- Their manager or exec sponsor
Often-missed invitees:
- Procurement (for contract discussions)
- Legal (for MSA review)
- IT/Security (for evaluation)
- Other team members who benefit from the context
Each buyer you invite gets personal tracking — so you can see which stakeholders engaged with what.
Invite multiple at once
Add several emails one after the other in the same field, or add the buyer's domain name (e.g. acme.com) so anyone from that company can get in under Only authorized users. Each named person gets their own invitation.
Tip: let buyers invite their colleagues
Buyers can invite other viewers themselves (by default). This is powerful — your champion can pull in their colleagues without emailing you. See Who can invite whom.
Tip: mention someone who isn't in the room yet
If you @-mention a person in a comment and they aren't a participant, Katalyz asks Invite {name}? — "They aren't in this room yet. Invite them so they can see your comment." Click Next to open the Share modal pre-filled with their email. See Comments, mentions & threads.
Re-sending an invitation
If a buyer says they didn't receive the invite:
- Open Participants.
- Click their row → Resend invitation.
- They get a fresh magic link.
