Who can invite whom
Inviting permissions follow one simple rule.
The rule
You can only invite someone with the same role as yours — or a lower one. You can never invite someone with more rights than you have.
Applied to the three room roles:

Owner is never invitable. Each room has exactly one Owner, set at creation and reassigned later by transferring ownership — there's no "invite as Owner" path. See Room roles and Changing someone's role.
The rule applies regardless of whether the inviter is internal (org member) or external (a buyer). A Viewer can invite Viewers — that's it.
Why this matters: Viewers can invite Viewers
This is the rule's most useful consequence — your champion on the buyer's side, invited as a Viewer, can pull in their own colleagues (procurement, legal, IT, execs) without going through you.
Why we allow it:
- The champion stays empowered to expand the deal team
- Your deal circle grows organically without inbox ping-pong
- You still see who was invited (it's tracked on the participant)
If you'd rather lock this down, the only way is to limit who has access in the first place — pick a stricter access setting and curate the participant list yourself.
What Viewers can't do
A Viewer (internal or buyer) cannot:
- Invite an Editor or change anyone to Editor
- Remove other participants
- Change someone's role
What invitations look like for the invitee
Whether invited by an Owner, an Editor, or another Viewer, the experience is the same:
- Personal magic-link email
- One-click access
- Same room, same content (respecting hidden sections and their role)
Removing participants someone else invited
Only the Owner, internal Editors, and workspace Admins can remove participants — regardless of who invited them. So if a Viewer invited someone you don't want in the room, you (as the Owner or an internal Editor) can remove them.
