Field widget
The Field widget displays the current value of a field on the room — deal amount, close date, target go-live, prospect score, any structured data point that lives on the room as a property.

Two kinds of fields
Kind | Editable in the room? | Where it's defined |
|---|---|---|
Native fields | ❌ Read-only | Built into Katalyz (e.g. room name, owner, creation date, stage) |
Custom fields | ✅ Editable directly in the room | Defined at the org level (workspace data settings) |
The widget displays the current value. For custom fields, clicking the value lets an Owner or Editor update it inline.
How to add
- On the floating build bar at the bottom of the editor, locate the widget — in the primary widgets row, or under the ⌄ All widgets popover if it's not there.
- Drag the Field widget onto the target section.
- Pick the field to display from the list of native + custom fields available on the room.
The selection pill — Field controls
Click the Field widget to select it. The pill is minimal — the field's content comes from the underlying data source, so there's nothing to edit on the widget itself beyond styling:
- 🌙 Dark mode — flips the widget's surface to a dark treatment for contrast against light sections.
- Design (paintbrush icon) — opens the contextual Design panel (Layout & corners / Spacing / Background / Border / Effects).
- ⋮ More — Duplicate · Delete.
To change which field is displayed, or to edit the value, use the in-widget controls (clicking the field for inline edit on custom fields — see Editing values in the room below).

Custom fields are managed at the org level
Custom fields are created and configured in the workspace's Data settings by an Admin — not in the room. From the org-level settings you control:
- Field name (the internal key)
- Label (the human-readable name shown on the widget)
- Type — see the full list below
- Options (for picklist-style types: pipelines, tags, dropdowns, etc.)
- External integration sync — whether the field is synced with an external tool's property, and the mapping rules
The field's label cannot be customized at the room level — what's set in org Data settings is what every Field widget displays. This keeps fields consistent across all rooms.
See Creating custom properties and HubSpot field mapping.
Custom field types
Defined when an Admin creates the custom field in Data settings:
Categorization
- Pipelines — staged options with optional probability per stage (used for the room's deal stage)
- Tags — multi-select labels with colors
Text input
- Single-line text
- Multi-line text
- Rich text
Values
- Phone
- Number
- Percentage
- Currency
Choose options
- Single checkbox
- Multiple checkboxes
- Dropdown select
- Radio select
- Date picker
Other
- File
- User — pick a workspace user / room participant
External integration sync (custom fields only)
Custom fields can be mapped to external tool properties — currently:
- HubSpot — Contacts, Companies, or Deals
- Lemlist — Campaigns or Leads
- Apollo — People or Accounts
When mapped, values flow both ways:
- External → Katalyz — when the value changes in the source tool, the room's field updates automatically.
- Katalyz → External — when an editor updates the value in the room, it syncs back (subject to the mapping rules set at org level).
Native fields are never synced (they're internal Katalyz data).
Editing values in the room
- Native fields — read-only. Change them through the corresponding Katalyz UI (e.g. rename the room from the room settings, change the owner from access).
- Custom fields — click the value on the widget to edit inline (Owner or Editor only). Changes persist to the room and, if mapped, sync to the connected integration.
The Data tab — central view of all custom fields used
Every custom field used in the room (whether via a Field widget or via a $ variable in a Text widget) is also surfaced in a dedicated Data tab in the left sidebar. From the Data tab you can:
- See all custom fields currently in use in this room, with their current values
- Edit any of those values directly (no need to find the widget on the page)
- Get a single source of truth for the room's structured data
So a custom field is editable in two places: inline on its widget and in the Data tab.
Formatting
The widget formats the value based on the field's type as defined at org level — currency with the right symbol/locale, dates per user settings, percentages with the % sign, picklists as the option label, etc.
Field widget vs. variables in text
- Field widget — a dedicated, prominent display of a single field's value
- Variables — reference the same fields inline in a Text widget (type
$to insert)
Use Field to call out a value. Use variables to weave data naturally into copy. See Using variables in text.
