Naming conventions & best practices
The room title is what your buyer sees in their browser tab and welcome email. It's a first impression — and a small choice that shapes the deal's feel.
Good titles
Use the account name
Acme CorpContoso Partners
Clean, recognizable, professional.
Co-brand for emphasis
Katalyz × Acme CorpKatalyz + Contoso — Partnership
Signals a joint effort rather than a vendor pushing a deal.
Stage-specific for clarity
Acme Q2 OnboardingContoso Renewal 2026
Useful when you'll likely have multiple rooms with the same account over time.
Titles to avoid
Internal deal codes
Q2-ENT-0847-AcmeOPP-2026-0847
These look sloppy to a buyer and don't help anything.
Internal jargon
Whale deal — AcmePOC Phase 2 — Acme
Reminds the buyer they're being sold to in a sometimes cringey way.
Generic names
Sales ProposalDemo RoomUntitled
Loses the personalization that's the whole point of Katalyz.
Length considerations
- Under 50 characters is ideal — it fits cleanly in browser tabs and email previews
- Under 20 characters is tight but punchy — works great if the account name is short
- Over 60 characters — gets truncated on mobile and in email clients
Multiple rooms for the same account
If you'll have several rooms for one account over time (sales → onboarding → renewal → upsell), use a consistent prefix:
Acme — Initial ProposalAcme — OnboardingAcme — Q2 QBRAcme — 2027 Renewal
Easy to find in your dashboard, easy for the buyer to mentally organize.
Localizing the title
If your buyer prefers French (and your room language is set to French), consider writing the title in French. Your buyer will feel more at home.
Changing the title later
You can rename a room anytime from the room's settings. Owners and Editors can rename.
