Org roles — Admin, Pro, Basic
Every member of your Katalyz workspace has an org role — their workspace-wide permission level. There are three org roles, and choosing the right one matters both for security and for billing.
⚠️ Only Admins can assign or change org roles.
The three org roles
Admin
Full control of the workspace. Admins can:
- View, edit, and delete every room in the workspace (even ones they weren't invited to)
- Create rooms, templates, and library content
- Manage members — invite, change roles, remove
- Configure workspace settings — branding, general, integrations, custom objects
- Manage billing — plans, seats, add-ons, credits
- Access all room analytics
Use for: founders, sales leaders, RevOps, IT.
Pro
The default seller role. Pros can:
- Create rooms they own
- Edit and delete rooms they own
- Access rooms they've been invited to
- Be assigned as Owner, Editor, or Viewer in any room
Pros cannot manage other members, cannot see rooms they weren't invited to, and cannot access workspace settings.
Use for: Sales reps, CSMs, AEs, BDRs.
Basic
The free tier. Basic seats don't cost anything — invite as many as you need. Basics can:
- Access rooms they've been explicitly invited to
- Be assigned as Viewer or Editor in those rooms
- Leave comments, complete tasks, and participate
Basics cannot create rooms, cannot see rooms they weren't invited to, and cannot access workspace settings.
Use for: SDRs who only support deals, occasional participants, cross-functional collaborators who need access to a few rooms.

Org roles vs. room roles
These are independent layers:
- Org role — what you can do across the workspace
- Room role — what you can do inside a specific room (Owner, Editor, Viewer)
A Pro can be a Viewer in one room and an Editor in another. The room role determines what they can do in that specific room; the org role determines what happens everywhere else.
Admins always have full edit rights on every room, regardless of their room role (a byproduct of their workspace-wide access).
Billing impact
- Admin and Pro are the same price per seat
- Basic is free — no cost, no seat limit
Pick Basic for people who only ever access a handful of rooms but don't need to create them. Because it's free, don't hesitate to add everyone on your side who touches a deal — procurement, legal, exec sponsors — as Basic. For people who need to create and manage rooms, use Pro.
Changing a role later
You can change someone's role at any time — see Changing someone's org role. Changes take effect immediately.
