Text widget

The Text widget is the workhorse of every room. Use it for intros, context, explanations, narratives, and anything that needs words.

Adding a Text widget drops in an empty block with the placeholder "Ajoutez votre contenu / Add your content". Just click and start typing.

Two toolbars to know

Text has two distinct toolbars, each surfacing at a different moment:

  • Selection pill — appears above the widget when you click to select the widget itself. For the Text widget it's minimal: a Design chip (opens the contextual Design panel) and a ⋮ More menu with Duplicate and Delete. There's no Size / Edit resource / Edit content chip, because text is always edited inline.
  • In-text formatting toolbar — appears when you actually select some text inside the widget (see The formatting toolbar below).

When to use it

  • Welcome message at the top of the room
  • Context-setting before a pricing table
  • Narrative explanation of a case study
  • "How it works" descriptions
  • Legal notices or disclaimers

The formatting toolbar

Type normally; on selection, a floating toolbar appears above the text with, left to right:

  1. Font family — dropdown (e.g. Arial)
  2. Font size — in px
  3. Alignment — left / center / right
  4. Text color — color picker
  5. Highlight — marker color
  6. Bold (B)
  7. Italic (I)
  8. Underline (U)
  9. Strikethrough (S)
  10. Bullet list
  11. Numbered list
  12. Link — linkify the selection with a URL
  13. Insert image — drop an image inline

Length matters

  • Short chunks (2–4 sentences) — best for email-first buyers who skim
  • Medium (1–2 paragraphs) — good for explanatory context
  • Long (5+ paragraphs) — consider breaking into multiple widgets with headings

Nobody wants to read a wall of text. If you're writing more than a paragraph, look for ways to break it into a Steps, Timeline, or structured layout.

Best practices

  • Lead with what the buyer cares about, not what you want to say
  • Use active voice — "We deliver" > "Delivery is provided by us"
  • Short sentences, short paragraphs — sales writing isn't literature
  • Bold key phrases for scanning readers (but don't overdo it)

Inserting variables

Type $ anywhere in a text widget to open the variables dropdown. Pick a built-in field (room name, owner) or a custom field to insert. The variable is replaced with the actual value when the room renders. See Using variables in text.
