Is my activity tracked?

Short answer: yes, and that's by design. Here's exactly what's tracked and why.

What's tracked

Every significant interaction you have with a Katalyz room is logged:

Page views — when you open the room and which pages you navigate to
Time spent — approximate minutes on each page
Scroll depth — how far down you scrolled
Clicks — on CTAs, download buttons, links
Downloads — which files you saved
Comments — what you posted and when
Task completions — which tasks you marked done
Meeting bookings — when you scheduled time
Signature events — when you viewed, signed, or declined a document

Who sees this

The sender (the company that shared the room with you) sees all of this in their internal Activity dashboard.

Katalyz stores this data to provide the service. It's not shared externally, never sold, never used to train AI models on your behalf.

Why senders track this

It's the main reason Katalyz exists as a product category. For senders, this information helps them:

Understand what you care about — if you spent 8 minutes on pricing, pricing is top-of-mind
Time their outreach well — if you just opened the room at 9am, that's a good time to call
Identify stakeholders — who else from your team you've invited or mentioned
Close deals faster — by reducing guesswork and "where do we stand" emails

Is this normal?

Yes. This is standard for B2B sales tools. Comparable tools that track buyer activity:

DocSend — tracks document opens, page-by-page views
PandaDoc — similar tracking for proposals
Showpad — similar tracking for sales collateral
Dock, Pipedrive, HubSpot sales hub — all include activity tracking

If you've interacted with any of these, you've been tracked in similar ways.

Can I opt out?

Not directly. Room activity tracking is how deal rooms work — opting out would mean not using the room.

That said, you have a few options:

Ask for an alternative format

If Katalyz's tracking is genuinely a dealbreaker for you, ask the sender to share content another way — static PDFs, shared drives, or in-person walkthroughs.

Delete your data post-deal

After the deal concludes (either direction), you can ask the sender to delete your activity records. They're required by GDPR to honor such requests (with some legal retention exceptions for signed contracts).

What about anonymous browsing?

If you want to quickly preview a room without being identified:

Open in an incognito / private browsing window — avoids carrying your session cookies
Don't enter your email if asked to verify — but many rooms require verification
Note: the sender may still see "someone anonymously opened the link" as a tracked event, but without your identity

What's never tracked

What you type but don't submit (draft comments, incomplete forms)
Other tabs you have open
What you do after leaving the room
Private information from your computer or browser beyond standard session data
