The link doesn't work — what to do

Clicking the link and something's wrong — a blank page, an error, "access denied." Here's how to diagnose.


First: try again


Tech glitches happen. Close the tab, reopen the email, and click the link again. About half of "broken link" issues resolve with a fresh try.


Common error messages and what they mean


The magic-link from the email has a 48-hour expiry. If it's been longer, request a fresh link:

  • Reply to the sender's email, asking them to re-send
  • Or enter your email on the Katalyz page (if offered) to receive a new code


"Page not found" / 404

Three possible causes, all shown as a 404:

  • Your email isn't authorized for this room — the sender hasn't (yet) added you to the authorized list. Reply to them and ask to be added.
  • The room was deleted by the sender.
  • The room was archived (hidden).


In any case, get back to the sender so they can confirm what's going on and re-share access if needed.


The page loads but the room is empty

The sender may have hidden all sections, or the room was shared before content was added. Contact them.



If someone else forwarded you their link, it might not work for you because:


  • Magic links are tied to a specific email — the link only authenticates the original recipient
  • Magic code verification prevents forwarding — you'd need to verify your own email to access


Fix: ask the sender to invite you specifically (with your email). That way you get your own magic link.


The link works but content looks broken


Common causes:


Corporate browser restrictions

Some corporate IT policies block third-party sites or specific JavaScript features. Try:

  • A different browser (Chrome is most broadly supported)
  • Your phone's browser (often bypasses corporate proxy issues)
  • Opening from outside the corporate network (home Wi-Fi)


Ad blockers / privacy extensions

Aggressive ad blockers can break Katalyz rooms. Temporarily disable and refresh.


Old browser

Katalyz supports recent versions of:

  • Chrome (last 2 major versions)
  • Firefox (last 2 major versions)
  • Safari (last 2 major versions)
  • Edge (last 2 major versions)


If you're on an older browser, update.


Nothing works


If the link still won't open:


  1. Contact the sender directly — they can see from their side whether there's an issue
  2. Contact Katalyz support at contact@katalyz.co — include:
    • The link URL (or the email you received)
    • A description of the error
    • Your browser and OS
