Link widget

Use the Link widget to embed any web-hosted resource via its URL — an article, a Notion page, a Figma file, a Loom video, a SaaS dashboard, a live demo environment. Anything that lives at a URL.

Why a dedicated widget? Mental shortcut. Many users think "I have a link" rather than "I have a video that happens to live at a URL". The Link widget matches that intent — paste a URL, get a nicely framed embed, move on.

How to add

  1. On the floating build bar at the bottom of the editor, locate the widget — in the primary widgets row, or under the ⌄ All widgets popover if it's not there.
  2. Drag the Link widget onto the target section.
  3. Paste the URL.
  4. Configure size and captions from the selection pill (see below).

When you paste a URL, Katalyz auto-fetches the title, description, and preview image from the page's Open Graph tags. You can edit any of these in the settings popup.

Click the link to select it. The pill mirrors the [Image widget pill](→ 02-rooms/03-widgets-content-storytelling/03-image-widget#the-selection-pill-image-controls), left to right:

  1. Size — dropdown with Small / Medium / Large.
  2. 🌙 Dark mode (captions) — toggle. Flips the caption block to a dark background with light text.
  3. Edit resource (sliders icon) — opens the edit popup with the link's title, captions, and the Replace link action (see below).
  4. Replace link (refresh icon) — shortcut to swap the URL without opening the full edit popup. Caption content and design settings are preserved.
  5. Design (paintbrush icon) — opens the contextual Design panel (Layout & corners / Spacing / Background / Border / Effects).
  6. Expand on click (diagonal arrows icon) — toggle. When on, clicking the link in the rendered room opens the fullscreen viewer inside the room. Off = the link stays inline.
  7. ⋮ More — Edit resource (same as the sliders icon) · Duplicate · Delete.

Size — Small / Medium / Large

Size controls how the link preview and its captions are arranged relative to each other:

  • Small — compact row: a favicon / file-type icon alongside the captions. Good for a link-list of references.
  • Medium — small preview thumbnail on one side, captions on the other (side-by-side).
  • Large — large preview on top, captions below it (hero-card look — great for case-study links with a quote).

Note: when the link is Small or Medium, the title caption is always displayed — regardless of the Title toggle. The toggle only controls display when the link is sized Large.

Edit resource — captions and content

Open via the sliders icon on the pill (or the same item in the ⋮ More menu). Same caption fields as the Image / Video / Document widgets:

  • Name — the link's title (pre-filled from Open Graph tags)
  • Subtitle — a short secondary line under the title
  • Quote — a highlighted quote block
  • Author — name shown under the quote
  • Author avatar — uploaded image next to the author name
  • Replace link — swap the URL without losing your caption content or design settings

When swapping to a new URL for a new deal, replace the URL inside the existing widget instead of deleting and re-adding. All design settings and caption content stay intact.

  • Link widget — reference material or a secondary resource. Usually paired with a preview.
  • CTA widget — a styled call-to-action the buyer should click (book a meeting, sign, download a specific file).

Use Link for reference; CTA for conversion.
