Section templates (micro-templates)

Section templates — sometimes called micro-templates — are reusable pieces smaller than a whole room. You save a section from one room as a template, then drop it into any other room from the + Add section popover on the floating build bar.

If a room template is the equivalent of a full document, a section template is a saved paragraph or chapter you reuse.

When to use a section template vs a room template

Use a room template when...

Use a section template when...

You're starting a whole new room

You're adding a reusable piece to an existing room

The entire structure (pages + sections + widgets) is reusable

Just part of it is reusable (e.g. "your team," pricing widget, standard T&Cs)

You send the same type of proposal repeatedly

You sometimes need to drop in a specific narrative — case study, legal clause, team intro

Most teams end up with 3–5 room templates + 10–20 section templates — different scales of reuse.

Save a section as a template

⚠️ Requires org role Admin or Pro.

  1. Open the room (you're in edit mode by default).
  2. Select the section (its selection pill appears above it).
  3. Click the ⋮ More chip on the pill → Copy as template.
  4. Give it a name and optional description.
  5. Save.

The section template is immediately available to everyone in your workspace.

You can also reach the same command from the section's three-dot menu in the Navigate tab of the left sidebar.

Use a section template in a room

  1. Open any room in edit mode.
  2. On the floating build bar at the bottom of the editor, click + Add section.
  3. In the popover, switch to the From a template tab (search or scroll the list).
  4. Drag the template onto the target page.
  5. Drop. The template expands inline into a new section with all its widgets.

What gets copied

A section template stores:

  • The section's title
  • All widgets inside it (text, video, document, CTA, contact, etc. — including their content)
  • Visual / layout settings on the section

When you drop it into a room, it becomes a fresh copy — editing the dropped section doesn't affect the template, and updating the template later doesn't retroactively change rooms that already use it.

What doesn't carry over

Some block-level data is deal-specific and doesn't travel with the template:

  • Signature envelopes in flight
  • Comments and mentions
  • Activity on individual widgets
  • Placeholder values (these start fresh per room)

Organizing section templates

Section templates are available from the + Add section → From a template popover inside any room. They're also surfaced on the Templates page (left-sidebar entry of the org-level dashboard), where you can manage them alongside room templates.

Naming conventions that scale:

  • Case study — [Company]
  • Pricing — Enterprise
  • Team bios — Customer Success
  • Legal — Standard MSA
  • Demo video — Product overview

Great section template candidates

  • Case studies — one template per reference customer
  • Your team intro — photos, titles, booking links for the rep + CSM + SE
  • Pricing narratives — one per plan tier
  • Legal clauses — MSA, DPA, standard T&Cs
  • Welcome / intro widgets — personalized greeting with video
  • Next steps checklists — common action items

Editing and deleting

Same rules as room templates:

  • Edit — changes apply to future insertions, not existing rooms
  • Duplicate — create a variant
  • Delete — permanent; rooms already using the template keep their copy
