Saving a room as a template
Any room can be turned into a template. Do this once your best rep has built the room that actually works — that's your template candidate.
⚠️ Requires org role Admin or Pro.
Save a room as a template
- Open the room you want to save.
- Click the room menu in the top-left of the left sidebar (next to the room title).
- Select Copy as template.
- Give the template a name (e.g. "Enterprise sales proposal") and a short description.
- Click Save.

The template is now available to everyone in your workspace from the Templates page in the left sidebar.
What gets saved
The template is a snapshot of the room as-is at the moment you save it. Everything that's part of the room's structure and content is carried over:
- Every page and its order
- Every section within each page
- Every block in every section, with its content
- Task structure + assignees (who owns what)
- Visibility settings on pages and sections
- The room's Design tab settings (color palette, etc. — see Per-room theme)
There's no separate "template overrides" layer — what was on the room is what's on the template.
What gets stripped
When a room becomes a template, Katalyz removes anything contextual — things that only made sense for that specific deal, with that specific buyer, on those specific dates. Notably:
- Comments (and mentions)
- External users (everyone who isn't an org member — buyer-side participants are removed)
- Dates — absolute dates on steps, phases, milestones are stripped. Relative dates are preserved, so a template built with relative dates still cascades correctly when used to create a new room.
This means you can confidently template-ify a closed deal without leaking buyer data.
Clean up the template before saving
A real room has things you don't want in a template:
- The buyer's name in the welcome text
- Pricing numbers specific to that deal
- A CTA pointing to a personalized booking link
- Testimonials or case studies that don't fit all buyers
Either:
- Clean up in the room first, then copy as template, or
- Copy as template, then immediately open and edit it to remove specifics
💡 Tip — Use variables (type $ in a text widget) for anything that changes per room — deal name, owner, custom field values. Your template will then adapt to each new room automatically. See Using variables in text.
Rename or delete a template
Templates can be managed from the Templates page (left sidebar). Admins can rename, duplicate, or delete any template. Pro users can edit templates they created.
