Creating a template with AI

You can draft a room template or a section template with AI instead of building it block by block. Describe what it should contain, attach reference material, pick a quality level, and edit the result in the template editor.

⚠️ Requires org role Admin or Pro. AI drafting uses credits (3 / 5 / 10 per template depending on quality); a blank template is free.

Steps

  1. Go to Templates and open the Rooms tab (for a room template) or the Sections tab (for a section template).
  2. Click New template.
  3. Fill in a Name (required) and an optional Description — "When should teammates reach for this template?"
  4. Choose how to build it:
    • AI-powered creation — Describe the template and let AI assemble it (selected by default)
    • Blank template — Build the content yourself in the editor
  5. With AI selected, give it something to work from — at least one of:
    • What should this template contain? — e.g. "A security-review room: company intro, SOC 2 and GDPR docs, a Q&A section and a sign-off checklist…" or, for a section, "A pricing section with three tiers, a comparison table and an FAQ…"
    • Add resource — files, links or library items the AI should draw on
    • Attach meetings — recordings whose content should shape the template
  6. Pick the AI model quality — Fast, Balanced (default) or Maximum. See Generating a room with AI for what each level means.
  7. Click Generate template (or Create template for a blank one).

What you get

The template is created as unpublished and you land in the template editor. Review it, adjust anything, then publish it so teammates can use it. Templates generated with AI behave exactly like hand-built ones: they can be edited, duplicated, synced (for section templates) and used to create rooms.

Because templates are reused across many rooms, keep the brief generic — describe the structure and the kind of content, not one specific customer. Use variables for what changes per room.
