How credits work
Credits are Katalyz's usage currency for AI and enrichment. Every user on the Core plan brings 150 credits per month into one shared workspace balance, and most day-to-day AI use is free. Credits are spent only when the assistant generates something for you.
The basics
- 150 credits per user per month, included in Core
- Pooled at the workspace level — one balance shared by the whole team
- Admins can cap what each member spends per month and get a low-balance alert — see AI settings
Where to see what's left
Credits stay out of your way — there's no permanent counter following you around the app. Two places show you where you stand:
- The AI side panel — how much of this month's allowance is left, next to the assistant that spends it.
- Settings → Plan & Billing → AI Credits — the exact Available balance in credits, plus every grant that makes it up. This is the place for the precise number.
What's free
- Chatting with Ask AI, quick actions and reviewing or applying suggestions
- Auto-filling room fields from recordings
- Listing today's meetings on the Home page
- Creating rooms and templates manually (Standard setup / Blank template)
What costs credits
Action | Credits |
|---|---|
Generate a room with AI — Fast / Balanced / Maximum quality | 3 / 5 / 10 |
Generate a template with AI — Fast / Balanced / Maximum | 3 / 5 / 10 |
Home → What needs my attention? (per run) | 1 |
Home → Summarize today's meetings (per meeting summarised) | 1 |
Home → Draft a follow-up — open the list | 1 |
Home → Draft a follow-up — each draft | 2 |
Home → Draft a follow-up — rewrite in another tone | 1 |
Katalyz doesn't put a price tag on the button before you click it — the app stays free of running totals, so this table is the reference for what things cost. The amounts are small and the allowance is generous; if you want to know where the workspace stands, check the AI side panel or Plan & Billing.
There is no "regenerate" button on the Home flows: re-running would charge again for the same answer, so closing the card and picking the action again is the way to ask afresh.
Model quality (Fast / Balanced / Maximum) is chosen by whoever runs a generation, at that moment — it's not a workspace setting. See Generating a room with AI.
Where credits come from
Source | Amount |
|---|---|
Core plan | 150 / user / month, pooled |
Free trial | 100 credits by default while your workspace is on trial |
Recurring add-on | +100 credits / user / month per block (€20), up to 650 / user |
One-time packs | 1,000 · 5,000 · 20,000 credits |
Free credits | +50 for a G2 review, +25 for a LinkedIn follow (sidebar → Get free credits) |
Granted by Katalyz | Negotiated top-ups, shown in your grants list |
Your Plan & Billing page lists every grant with a badge: Plan (Included with your plan · 150 / user), Recurring (subscription add-on) or One-time (packs and manual grants). See Buying more credits.
Per-user caps
By default there is no per-user limit — members draw from the shared balance. Admins can turn on Cap credits per user / month in AI settings (500 by default) so one heavy user can't drain the workspace. With a cap, each member is alerted when they have less than 10% of their cap left; without, admins are alerted when the workspace balance drops below 10%.
Running low or out
- The Low-balance alert in AI settings notifies admins (or the member, when a cap is set) at 10% of the allowance.
- When the balance reaches zero, actions that cost credits can't run until credits are added. Free actions keep working.
- Buy a pack for an immediate top-up, or raise the monthly inclusion for a durable fix.
